The 2024 cycle offers career-changing prizes and the opportunity for designers to present their sustainable designs to a global audience. In addition, a total of HK$80,000 (US$10,000) in development funding is available for prize winners.

FIRST PRIZE

THE REDRESS DESIGN AWARD 2024 FIRST PRIZE WITH TOMMY HILFIGER

Following their runway victory, the Redress Design Award first prize winner will have an opportunity to join the Tommy Hilfiger team and work on a sustainable design project for retail, gaining valuable industry experience, and building on their knowledge of sustainable fashion. They will also spend time under the guidance of the Tommy Hilfiger sustainability team to deepen their skills and understanding of sustainable production and marketing. The winner will also receive mentorship sessions from the Tommy Hilfiger team to support their ongoing career.

The first prize winner will also receive…

  • A development fund of HK50,000 (US$6,400) to propel their sustainable fashion career

  • A high-performance lockstitch machine and an overlock sewing machine from JUKI

  • One year individual access to all areas of Bloomsbury Fashion Central, including the Fairchild Books Library and the Fashion Photography Archive*

Runner-up Prize

THE REDRESS DESIGN AWARD 2024 MENTORSHIP WITH ORSOLA DE CASTRO

The runner-up will receive a tailored mentorship with distinguished sustainable fashion designer and competition judge, Orsola de Castro. Widely regarded as one of the most influential figures in sustainable fashion, Orsola has nurtured many of the pioneering names in sustainable fashion from their early designs through to their established brands. 

This mentorship opportunity will give the winner expert and targeted support from wherever they are in the world through video calls and by email over a six-month period. This prize prepares the designer, their visions and collections for the competitive market of attracting fashion buyers and media – and ultimately securing success.

  • A development fund of HK15,000 (US$1,900)

  • A high-performance lockstitch machine from JUKI

  • 10 digital books from Bloomsbury’s Basics Fashion Design series

People's Choice

After impressing the global public with their designs in an online vote to outshine the other Finalists, this winner will receive a JUKI overlock sewing machine.

  • Additional promotion across Redress’ social networks

  • A digital copy of Bloomsbury book Clothing Alterations and Repairs: Maintaining a Sustainable Wardrobe, by Chelsey Byrd Lewallen

Hong Kong Best Prize

Hong Kong's highest scoring designer will receive:

  • A guaranteed place in the Grand Final

  • A development fund of HK15,000 (US$1,900)

  • A JUKI high-performance lockstitch sewing machine

  • A digital copy of Bloomsbury book Zero Waste Fashion Design 2nd edition, by Timo Rissanen and Holly McQuillan

  • A one-year local membership at Soho House Hong Kong

ALL TEN FINALISTS WILL RECEIVE

  • The opportunity to present their sustainable collections at HKTDC Hong Kong's Fashion Week CENTRESTAGE

  • A whirlwind educational all-expenses paid trip to Hong Kong, staying at Dash Living,

  • Their designs shot in Hong Kong by a renowned photographer and styled by an influential stylist 

  • Designs showcased under the international public’s spotlight in an exhibition after the grand final concludes 

  • A two-hour mentorship with a sustainable fashion expert to help nurture their future career development

  • A subscription to Bloomsbury’s online portal, the Berg Fashion Library (from May to October 2024)

  • A digital copy of a Bloomsbury book, Global Perspectives on Sustainable Fashion (published February 2019) by Alison Gwilt, Alice Payne and Evelise Anicet Ruthschilling

All 30 semi-finalists will receive

  • Promotion across Redress’ marketing channels 

  • Access to the Redress Design Award Alumni Network which provides regular opportunities to develop their sustainable fashion career

ALL RISING TALENTS WILL RECEIVE

  • An in-depth tailored mentorship with one or more industry experts to build on their sustainability experience

  • Pairing with an alumni mentor 

  • Access to the Redress Design Award Alumni Network which provides regular opportunities to develop their sustainable fashion career 

  • A selection of digital fashion books from Bloomsbury Publishing, including A Practical Guide to Sustainable Fashion, 2nd Edition by Alison Gwilt (published July 2020), Designing Fashion's Future: Present Practice and Tactics for Sustainable Change by Alice Payne (published January 2021), and Fashion Design: The Complete Guide by John Hopkins (published October 2021)

  • The Rising Talent showing the greatest improvement on their sustainability knowledge through the programme will be awarded an overlock sewing machine from JUKI.

  • Hong Kong's highest-scoring Rising Talent will receive a one month access to the Design e room co-working space.

ALUMNI PRIZES

Each cycle of the Redress Design Award, we continue to support our alumni, our previous semi-final and final competitors, with prizes through partnerships with like-minded organisations to enhance their careers in sustainable fashion.

THE REDRESS DESIGN AWARD ALUMNI PRIZE IN PARTNERSHIP WITH DHL EXPRESS HONG KONG

One alumni will be awarded the "DHL GoGreen Plus Alumni Prize." This prize challenges alumni to upcycle unused DHL uniforms into a corporate gift, accessory or fashion piece to extend the life of the garments. The winner will receive HK$50,000 (US$ 6,400) in shipping credits to support their brand development.

THE REDRESS DESIGN AWARD ALUMNI PRIZE IN PARTNERSHIP WITH DELTA GLOBAL

One Alumni will win the chance to visit the Delta Global head office based in the UK, where they will gain invaluable insight into the development of sustainable packaging for the fashion industry.  Alongside the trip the winner will also receive mentorship from Delta Global's Founder, Robert Lockyer as well as valuable packaging support for their brand.

THE REDRESS DESIGN AWARD ALUMNI PRIZE IN PARTNERSHIP WITH JUKI

One alumni winner will receive an overlock sewing machine from JUKI.

THE REDRESS DESIGN AWARD ALUMNI PRIZE IN PARTNERSHIP WITH SOHO HOUSE HONG KONG

One Hong Kong-based alumni winner will win a one-year local membership at Soho House Hong Kong.
