Redress Design Award 2018 Semi-FINALIST
Bio
Christina Wong was a semi-finalist of the Redress Design Award 2018and studied Textile Design at the Glasgow School of Art, UK.
Being a weaver, I felt there was a disconnection between textile and fashion disciplines. By combining the design of woven textiles and pattern-making, I discovered that 100% zero-waste production is possible through weaving - from yarn to garment. I hope to illustrate the importance of different roles in the industry and show that collaboration is crucial to find solutions.. - Christina Wong
redress Design Award Collection
Christina was inspired by the timeless aesthetic of Chanel and Linton tweeds for her Redress Design Award submission. Her zero-waste collection is created from up-cycled discontinued yarns sourced from a local Scottish mill and yarn scraps found at her university, and consists of simple silhouettes which focus on colour composition and texture.
