Zhou Wen was a semi-finalist of the Redress Design Award 2018 and studied Fashion Textile Design and Fashion Design at the Shanghai Design College of China Academy of Fine Arts, China.

To me sustainable fashion is a source of inspiration that has opened a new door for my work and broadened my understanding of fashion. After learning shocking statistics about the fashion industry and the influence a designer has in determining the overall environmental impact, I believe that sustainable design is not only a meaningful career path for myself but is also the new future of fashion. - Zhou Wen

redress Design Award Collection

For her Redress Design Award submission, Wen applies zero-waste design and up-cycling techniques to remnant fabrics sourced from Shanghai markets. Following the theme of ‘addition and subtraction’, she manipulates the fabric form via cutting techniques which reveal interesting silhouettes and spaces that embrace and incorporate the wearer’s body into the piece.
