Franziska Knitsch
Redress Design Award 2019 Semi-FINALIST
Bio
Franziska Knitsch is a semi-finalist of the Redress Design Award 2019 and is currently studying for a BA in Fashion Design at the Pearl Academy New Delhi, India.
“I enjoy the challenge of working with waste from fabric mills and artisans because not only am I providing solutions for the overproduction of the industry, but it also creates spontaneous design choices with surprising outcomes”.- Franziska Knitsch
redress Design Award Collection
Franziska collects things that are forgotten, unwanted or unnoticed for use in her Redress Design Award collection ‘REcollected’. Inspired by photos of her parents hiking trips from the 80’s she has developed a neo-nomadic uniform - adaptable garments that transform to the needs of the wearer. Franziska applies the design techniques of zero-waste and up-cycling to biodegradable fabrics including kala cotton and merino yarns embracing handweaving, natural dying and 3D printing.
