“For years I have been watching as politicians allow climate change to destroy my country. Industry needs to take the lead before it’s too late. Fashion is a huge contributor to the world’s climate crisis and it is our responsibility to make drastic and immediate change. We need to optimise the resources we already have in circulation and prevent textiles from reaching landfills as much as possible”. - Laura Krause
redress Design Award Collection
For her Redress Design Award collection, Songs of the Bush, Laura pays homage to the forgotten birds lost in the Australian bush fires, and draws creativity from the joy and freedom she felt in her childhood listening to the birdsong. The resulting utilitarian zero-waste hand knitted collection is made from recycled wool and cotton, with function and flexibility for the wearer at its core.
