Bio
Prashasti Roy is a semi-finalist of the Redress Design Award 2020. She holds a BA (Hons) Degree in Fashion Design from the Pearl Academy, India.
“I believe sustainability in design is not optional. As designers we have the greatest tools to creatively reach out to more people to make them understand and be more aware of conscious buying. Through my work I aim to promote ancient artisanal techniques with an innovative, modern approach that does not burden the planet”. - Prashasti Roy
redress Design Award Collection
For her Redress Design Award 2020 collection, Orphic, Prashasti was inspired by the symbolism of resurrection, and focuses on reviving the things we once emotionally held close. She up-cycles a variety of textiles using traditional Indian weaving techniques and crochet. Silhouettes and fabrics are designed so that layers can be removed, interchanged between garments or styled with other garments, making it a versatile trans-seasonal collection that promotes sharing with multi-size options.
