2020 Emily Dennis

Emily Dennis

Redress Design Award 2020 Semi-FINALIST

Bio

Emily Dennis is a semi-finalist of the Redress Design Award 2020. She is currently studying Fashion at Coventry University in the UK.

“It is very important to me that sustainable approaches such as zero-waste design and up-cycling, lose their reputation of being low quality or cheap looking. I aim to create new innovative garments that people will be excited to wear, whilst also creating less waste both from fabric and dyeing processes”. - Emily Dennis

redress Design Award Collection

Inspired by Holly McQuillan’s zero-waste pattern design concepts, Emily explores  zero-waste in her Redress Design Award collection, Coffee Stains, up-cycling cut-and-sew calico waste from her final year toiles. In this minimalist collection, Emily uses natural dyes for a soft brown colour palette   creating garments with relatively simple construction to allow the wearer to repair the garment for themselves, even with the most basic sewing skills.
