redress Design Award Collection
For his Redress Design Award Collection Hess-story, Geraldo is inspired by the history of hessian, particularly its use by maroons, (descendants of Africans in America who formed settlements away from slavery) and by 17th century European military. Geraldo applies the up-cycling technique to used hessian bags, cut-and-sew waste, end-of-rolls, damaged and secondhand textiles with the intention to create timeless silhouettes to extend the life of the garments.
