Redress Design Award 2021 Semi-FINALIST
Bio
Jing is a semi-finalist of the Redress Design Award 2021. She holds a MA in Fashion and Textile Design from The Sichuan Fine Arts Institute, China and is currently pursuing a PhD in Fashion and Textile Design at Hong Kong Polytechnic University.
“People are no longer just blindly pursuing economic growth, they are becoming more and more aware of the crucial role of ecological conservation. Through the exploration of sustainable design, I believe the environmental pressure from fashion can be greatly improved to benefit future generations and contribute to the sustainability of humanity.” - Liu Jing
redress Design Award Collection
Jing’s Redress Design Award collection, ‘Rebellious Spirit of Romanticism’, is an edgy, romantic ready-to-wear collection inspired by deconstructed architecture, using block division to transform discarded clothing and fabrics into garments that can be worn in a variety of ways. Jing combines cut-outs and patchwork to create asymmetrical designs. To maximise the use of fabric ends, she creates small and irregular pieces that can be removed and reapplied to the garment.
