SARAANSH GUPTA
Redress Design Award 2021 Semi-FINALIST
Bio
Saraansh is a semi-finalist of the Redress Design Award 2021. He holds a Diploma in Fashion Design from Pearl Academy, India.
“I believe sustainable clothing is an unspoken conversation between the creator/designer and the admirer/wearer/customer. While tackling the negative environmental impacts, I also embrace my passion for the beauty of nature and colour and believe that the unique possibilities of what can be created by reusing, recycling and upcycling fabric waste are endless.” - Saraansh Gupta
redress Design Award Collection
Saraansh’s Redress Design Award collection, ‘Harmony in Disgrace’, is inspired by the technique of joining bias strips to make ‘Dori’ - a traditional Indian method of making fabric cord. He creates new textiles from this method, along with knitting and weaving to combine strips of upcycled deadstock and industry surplus textiles with secondhand clothing, allowing the transformation of even the most unappealing textile waste.
