redress Design Award Collection
Ruth’s Redress Design Award collection, ‘Folklore’, combines Indonesian traditional batik technique with modern technology such as laser cutting. Ruth uses draping, tying, and pleating to create fullness, volume, and shape without wasting any fabric in the process. She also makes her dyes from natural elements and food waste such as avocado pit and peel, rosemary, and gardenia. The outfits contain 100% natural fibres for recyclability, with wrap and tie finishing so they are not limited by the wearer’s size.
