redress Design Award Collection
Miia’s Redress Design Award collection, ‘BRELLA’, is made purely from secondhand umbrellas, with the idea to create stylish and interesting rainwear/outerwear that shows the full potential of this discarded material. Her collection is designed by draping triangular pieces of deconstructed umbrellas, with no cutting waste or leftover pieces. Miia’s garments are designed to minimise the need for frequent washing, to reduce microplastic pollution. Adjustable details such as removable sleeves, hems, and pleats also allow for versatile styling options, adding to the garments’ longevity.
