Sandali Fernando is a Semi-finalist of the Redress Design Award 2023. She holds a Bachelor of Arts (Hon) in Fashion Design and Textiles from the Academy of Design, Sri Lanka.

redress Design Award Collection

Sandali’s Redress Design Award collection, ‘TRASH’, is made for travellers. Designed to be both comfortable and functional for the outdoors, her military-inspired collection is created with factory waste denim fabrics, handloom yarns, and end-of-rolls. Waste yarns from Sri Lankan artisans are used to weave handloom textile as an element of heritage and to establish an emotional connection for the wearer. Sandali incorporates hand embroidery, pintucks, and patchwork to add elements of interest to each garment.
