Janus Ha at Central Market
Catch alumna designer Janus Ha showcasing her work as part of the ‘Designing Circularity’ sustainable lifestyle exhibition organised by the Consulate-General of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Hong Kong. Selected to be featured from our pool of Hong Kong designers in the Redress Design Award Alumni Network, Janus specialises in smocking as her main sustainable design technique. Her sustainable fashion brand if.or_see you demonstrates dedication towards maintaining a circular approach to its business model.
In addition to Janus’ work, the exhibition features a library with circular fashion publications, including Redress’ very own Dress [with] Sense. The exhibition is open from 3–28 June 2023, 10am–10pm, at the 1/F Event Space, Central Market, Hong Kong. Admission is free.
Angus Tsui and Eric Wong at ‘The Full Gamut’ for Design Spectrum Hong Kong
Eric Wong and Angus Tsui have their work displayed at Design Spectrum Hong Kong’s exhibition, ‘The Full Gamut’, with Eric’s sustainable brand Absurd Laboratory and a look from Angus’ XenoFuturist collection. In addition to featuring our Alumni, Design Spectrum is also showcasing the work of Redress’ Circular Fashion programme. The exhibition is open from 5 May–19 July 2023, 10am–7pm, at East Wing, 2/F, 822 Lai Chi Kok Road, Hong Kong. Admission is free and requires registration.
Lola Clavel for French May Festival in May
Lola Clavel worked as a costume and wardrobe designer for the show ‘Mer Calme’ at the French May Arts Festival in Hong Kong this May. ‘Mer Calme’ is a colourful musical featuring 31 actors, dancers, and singers, and a repertoire of various French songs selected by the artistic and musical director Nasthasia Faure.
Jin Pei-wen: Finalist at the iD Emerging Designer Awards 2023
Jin Pei-wen presented her zero-waste collection, ‘In the Playground’, at iD Dunedin Fashion Week, which was held in the historical and iconic Dunedin Railway Station in New Zealand in early April. Her designs for this collection were all modular garments where each look could be individually adjusted and modified specially to fit the various models at the show.
Lorenzo Restagno and Lola Clavel collaborate on Restagno Design’s second capsule collection
Lorenzo Restagno recently launched his second collection, ‘The shape of my naked volume’, under his brand Restagno Design. This capsule remains integral to the brands’ sustainable beliefs with a focus on biodegradable, natural materials, and includes upcycled materials whilst specifically using raw wool waste. Lorenzo invited fellow Alumna from the 2022 cycle, Lola Clavel, to work on this collection from the conception phase to the physical prototype production. The capsule collection is now retailing in Milan at the IDEE Showroom.
