Ester Soidla was a semi-finalist of the Redress Design Award 2018. She holds a Master’s Degree in Design and Crafts from the Estonian Academy of Arts, Estonia. Ester previously worked as a menswear designer for a fashion brand house.

From what I have experienced of the fashion business, I know that we cannot continue without sustainable thinking and I want to be part of the change! I don’t believe there is a long future in fashion manufacturing as we know it now. redress Design Award Collection

Ester’s Redress Design Award submission is inspired by revolutionary abstract artists. She up-cycles end-of-roll textiles, exploring alternative ways to traditional patternmaking and body-following shapes. The zero-waste, unisex, sizeless collection can be worn multiple ways and draws from origami in a modern take on the traditional kimono.
