There are already enough clothes in the world and I believe that through technology and craft, designers can transform existing textiles into beautiful new clothes. It is the responsibility of designers to make the world a better place through our work. - Ganit Goldstein
redress Design Award Collection
Ganit’s Redress Design Award (formerly the EcoChic Design Award)submission is inspired by the abundance of clothing already in existence in the world, which became evident to her when visiting the markets and secondhand clothing shops she discovered at home and also while studying abroad in Japan. Ganit applies the design techniques of up-cycling and reconstruction to a range of secondhand fabrics and industrial textile leftovers though shredding and traditional ikat weaving. She has a vision of turning textile waste back into objects of desire.
