Mimi Jeong was a semi-finalist of the Redress Design Award 2018 for which she won the People's Choice vote. She holds an MFA in Fashion Design from the Academy of Art University, USA and is currently working as a fashion/technical designer in womenswear in Los Angeles, USA.

Sustainability provides me with abundant creative inspiration and I believe there are no limits. As artisanal skills are to haute couture and the luxury industry, I believe that sustainability can also provide a form of wearable art, whilst acting as a messenger to highlight our environmental and social responsibilities. redress Design Award Collection

Mimi’s Redress Design Award submission is inspired by the works of Catalan architect, Antoni Gaudi, which is reflected in her use of vibrant colour and the embodiment of the artist’s signature mosaic designs. She up-cycles a variety of textiles including swatches and cut-and-sew waste for a collection full of sculptural form.
