Seerat Virdi was a finalist of the Redress Design Award 2018 and is currently part of the The R Collective marketing team. She also founded her own brand Miesu in 2016, focusing on creating modern clothing rooted in ethical practices. Seerat holds a degree in Fashion Design from the Pearl Academy New Delhi, India.

As designers we have the power to influence consumers and we need to remind ourselves of our responsibility towards our environment. I believe it’s our role to encourage both sustainability and reusability in our designs and through my work I hope to inspire consumers to adopt a new fashion model. - Seerat Virdi 

redress Design Award Collection

For her Redress Design Award submission, Seerat aims to inspire and influence consumers to reuse and repurpose their clothes by creating a contrast to today’s fast-paced fashion industry. Her designs are multifaceted, and include removable parts that can be interchanged across the collection. Applying the design techniques of zero-waste and up-cycling to silk organza and repurposed trims and threads, Seerat embraces handcrafted detailing and fabric manipulation techniques in her designs.
