“Designing with intent, longevity and trans-seasonality in mind, through my work I aim to reframe the way we value our garments by inspiring a slowing-down of fashion’s cycles, and ultimately transforming the way clothes are designed and worn”. - Saskia Baur-Schmid
redress Design Award Collection
For her Redress Design Award collection, Second Life, Saskia was inspired by the concepts of transformation, anti-consumerism and a desire to drive a movement towards slow fashion. She is rescuing and reimagining unwanted sustainable textiles, including end-of-rolls, sample textiles, and faulty dead stock, applying zero-waste pattern making across the collection. Saskia will also create new textiles from discarded threads and cut-and-sew waste.
