Bio
Wei Jia is a semi-finalist of the Redress Design Awards 2021 as well as a semi-finalist of the 2020 cycle. He holds a BA in Fashion Design from Tianjin University of Science and Technology, China, and an MA in Fashion Design from Bunka Fashion Graduate University, Japan. He is currently working as a designer at a menswear fashion label in Beijing.

redress Design Award Collection
Jia’s Redress Design Award collection, ‘Fashion in the epidemic era’, explores the potential long-term impacts of Covid-19 on fashion production and consumption, and is inspired by the endless possibility of transforming old to new. Jia reconstructs secondhand clothing and upcycles industry surplus to create voluminous, layering and gathering effects applying the zero-waste technique to select garments. He creates a practical, versatile collection with adjustable features for maximum wear.
