Bio

Esther Lui was a finalist of the Redress Design Award 2015-16 and Hong Kong Best Prize winner. She is currently working as a fashion designer for a bridal wear design house in Australia. She has a Fashion Design degree from Nottingham Trent University in the UK. 

As a designer, witnessing our earth’s resources diminish and the increasing amount of textile waste discarded day-by-day, I’ve become very motivated to utilise every piece of textile waste into my creations. - Esther Lui

redress Design Award collection

For her collection, Esther was inspired by the Chinese heroine Mulan, who was known for being strong on the outside but with a gentle heart. She used the up-cycling design technique using surplus textiles and clothing labels, sourced from factories in Hong Kong.
