What is the Redress Design Award?
OVERVIEW
The Redress Design Award is more than just the world’s largest sustainable fashion design competition. Organised by Redress, the programme equips emerging fashion professionals to tackle the issue of textile waste with circular design techniques.
Driving Education
For Redress Design Award applicants and anyone else seeking to deepen their knowledge in sustainable fashion design, we offer a rich selection of resources. These include our free Pathway Course, an accessible self-study programme on circular design strategies, and our online Redress Academy platform with useful case studies, subject guides, and video tutorials as well as a dedicated Educator Space for tertiary fashion educators.
Industry Connections
A standout feature of the Redress Design Award is our strong connection to industry leaders, including our esteemed judges drawn from the worlds of retail, design, manufacturing, and communications. Our finalist designers have the unique opportunity to pitch to these experts and receive invaluable feedback, and the winners are rewarded with career-changing prizes including mentorships and collaborations with top fashion brands..
Spotlighting Emerging Designers
The Redress Design Award receives hundreds of applications from around the world every year. The 30 semi-finalists are spotlighted through global PR efforts and on our social media and website. The ten finalists have their collections published in a magazine and showcased on a global runway in Hong Kong to top industry and media guests.
Supporting Alumni
Our Alumni Network is composed of semi-finalists and finalists from each cycle, who enjoy a range of post-competition support including opportunities for networking, education, and career development in sustainable fashion. Alumni of the competition have gone on to collaborate with some of the biggest names in fashion, as well as develop their own successful brands.
Rising Talents
Alongside the main design competition, 2022 saw the launch of a new sister programme, rewarding four applicants with expert mentorships to support the development of their circular fashion skills and techniques. Graduates of the Rising Talents programme also become members of the Alumni Network.
