Celebrating emerging talent rethinking fashion
The applications are in!
The first truly global cycle of the Redress Design Award has been an overwhelming success. Expanding beyond Asia, Europe and the USA for the first time, our sustainable fashion design competition has attracted a record number of applications from designers living in more than 50 countries around the globe, including first time applications from countries such as Bolivia, Estonia, Australia and Kenya.
It’s now up to our Regional Judging Panels - representing the crème de la crème of industry and all experts in sustainability and circular fashion from the worlds of retail, design, manufacturing and communication - to sieve through the applications and determine which 30 design talents will go through to the semi-finalist round.
Sitting on our Region 1 Judging Panel are Queennie Yang, Editor (Asia) at Vogue International, fashion designer of Indian artisan brand Péro, Aneeth Arora, ‘Innofacturer’ TAL Group CEO Roger Lee and The Mills Founder Vanessa Cheung. Vogue Australia’s first ever Sustainability Editor-at-Large, Clare Press, Sustainability expert Marieke Eyskoot, fashion designer Holly McQuillan, and Study NY founder Tara St form our Region 2 judging Panel. Both panels are also joined by Denise Ho, Fashion Director at The R Collective, the dynamic up-cycled new brand offering the talented first prize winner a chance to transform their runway collection into retail reality. Together our judges are looking for qualities of creativity, originality, sustainability and market viability in our applicants' waste-reducing designs.
The 30 Redress Design Award 2018 semi-finalists will be announced on 17 April at www.redressdesignaward.com when we will also open up our public judging for the People’s Choice Award. Stay tuned for more updates!
