2024 Rising Talents grow their sustainability knowledge and passion

Our Rising Talents programme offers an exclusive sustainability enrichment experience to a selection of Redress Design Award applicants demonstrating exceptional potential.

For our third year into this programme, we welcomed six Rising Talents: Caelan Cheung, Hong Kong; Robin Hu Jun-Cheng, Taiwan; Wei Tao, Mainland China; Xiang Yubei, Italy; Violet Ma, United Kingdom; and Patrik Bukovszky, United Kingdom.

Each Rising Talent was paired with an Alumni mentor and received an in-depth tailored mentorship with one or more industry experts. At the end of the three-month programme, the designers demonstrated their newfound sustainability knowledge by pitching an improved version of their original Redress Design Award applications.

Congratulations to Patrik Bukovszky, who demonstrated the greatest improvement in sustainability knowledge through the programme! For his efforts, he will be awarded an overlock sewing machine from JUKI.

“Patrik’s approach to sustainable fashion, which uniquely combines sustainable materials and innovative design techniques, truly distinguishes him in this competition. He was willing to pivot and adjust his project after hitting a roadblock initially. Patrik's designs were visually appealing and thoughtfully crafted with a clear focus on reducing environmental impact,” shared Chris Jordan, Design Director, TAL Group and Patrik’s mentor in the programme.

To support our homegrown talent in Hong Kong, Caelan Cheung will receive a one-month access to the Design e rooms co-working space.

All participants also receive a selection of digital fashion books from Bloomsbury Publishing to continue building their expertise in sustainable design.

Upon completing the programme, the Rising Talents join the Redress Alumni Network, which provides regular opportunities for developing their careers in sustainable fashion. They will also remain eligible to apply to future cycles of the competition.
