Ngoc Ha Thu Le is the winner of the Redress Design Award 2020 menswear category. Keen to put what she had learnt into practice, Thu launched her own brand XAVAN Studio. The brand’s first product, the Denim Type II Jacket, was an updated version of the reconstructed kimono jacket in her collection for the Redress Design Award. Thu’s underlying philosophy is "good things take time" and "doing less but better." All the pieces are one-of-a-kind, using zero-waste design, high quality deadstock fabrics along with traditional techniques.

In 2022, Thu’s collaboration with VF’s Timberland launched in celebration of the Year of the Tiger. The limited edition 3-in-1 waterproof jacket joined a CNY collection inspired by natural camouflage.

She holds a Higher National Diploma in Fashion and Textiles from the London College for Design and Fashion.

“As one of the largest textile producers and exporters now looking to move into manufacturing, it is crucial that my home country of Vietnam does not make the same mistakes others have in the past for the sake of both our citizens and the environment and to prove that a sustainable apparel industry is entirely possible. redress Design Award Collection

For her Redress Design Award winning collection, Slow Boy Archive, Ngoc Ha Thu Le took inspiration from Japanese-style Americana, creating more sustainable versions of classic menswear items. Applying zero-waste pattern design to up-cycled textiles and reconstructed clothing, Thu presented a collection that encourages consumers to take a mindful, slow-living approach to life - for their own well-being and the environment.
