Lorenzo Restagno
Redress Design Award 2022 Semi-FINALIST
Bio
Lorenzo Restagno launched his womenswear label Restagno Design in 2022, which he runs from his base of Hong Kong. Following studies in contemporary classical music, philosophy, and finance, Lorenzo has found his fashion inspiration in natural structures of vegetation, a violent informal beauty that combines traditionally decorative elements with destructive, chaotic forces.
The current collection ‘The shape of my naked volume’ remains integral to the brands’ sustainable beliefs with a focus on biodegradable, natural materials, and upcycled materials such as raw wool waste. This capsule expands stylistic features from his previous collections, further investigating the relationship between femininity and shapes, and is distributed in Milan through IDEE Showroom.
He holds an MA in Chinese Philosophy from the University of Turin, MSc in Finance from the University of Luxembourg, and has had extensive studies in contemporary music composition.
“I believe biodegradability and natural fibres are the most effective solution to the vastness of fashion waste.” - Lorenzo Restagno
redress Design Award Collection
Lorenzo’s Redress Design Award collection, ‘As long as you know I am waiting, take your time flowers of the spring’ embraces, through flowers embedded into traditional tailoring, a vision of a woman whose values do not follow trends. Lorenzo uses natural mono-fibres from end-of-roll wool deadstocks and unsold cotton twill shirts to ensure low waste and biodegradability in his collection. His designs combine traditional suiting with a concept of beauty that re-emerges from its leftovers.
