Sofiya’s Redress Design Award collection, ‘Mementos of Spirit’, celebrates the beauty of healing through the creative process, drawing on the designer’s Ukrainian roots and grunge music for inspiration. The collection includes handmade wool felt treated with a hand-needling technique to create a portrait print, as well as deadstock yarn knitted with an artisanal machine, buttons made from nutshells, and wool shorts reconstructed from a secondhand coat. Her fabrics are sourced from old family clothes, as well as cut-and-sew waste and factory surplus textiles.
