Redress Design Award Collection
Cris’ Redress Design Award collection, ‘「RE」COLLECT ’, is inspired by the designer’s interaction with Japanese culture through three traditional aesthetic concepts: wabi-sabi, mono-no-aware, and miyabi. The collection upcycles kimono and obi silks and their mother’s favourite leather jackets. After a drought precipitated water rationing in their hometown of Santiago, Cris shifted from dyeing processes to textile manipulations and hand painting. Cris also emphasises using the highest quality materials they can find to increase the longevity of their garments.
