Bio

Redress Design Award 2018 First Prize Winner, Tylar Whitfort ran their own brand PENDULUM Studios from 2019 to 2021, focusing on eliminating fabric wastage through zero-waste pattern cutting and establishing circular supply chains through upcycling waste textiles and using biodegradable materials and garment components. Following their Redress Design Award win, they collaborated with The R Collective team in Hong Kong to design their upcycled collection for retail. Tylar now works as a tattoo artist. They hold a degree in Fashion from Box Hill Institute, Australia.

For their Redress Design Award submission, Tylar was inspired by different subcultures and the way people express themselves through their clothing choices. They applied the design techniques of upcycling and zero-waste to industry end-of-rolls, customising their edgy, androgynous collection through the use of eco-friendly inks and paints.
