Redress Design Award Collection

Jasmine’s Redress Design Award collection, ‘the Cimex Coexist on Gown’, is inspired by American essayist Eileen Chang’s quote, ‘Life is a resplendent gown. Crawling with cimex.’ The collection reflects on how ‘coexistence’ is indispensable to help restore ecosystems and preserve biodiversity. Jasmine mixes and matches secondhand kimono with other unwanted garments and deadstock fabrics, adding texture with recycled gold and corn-based beading, and ‘cimex bite’ marks, emulated by holes torn on the garments. Modular designs on a skirt and jacket also allow the garments to be worn in two ways, offering versatility.

Over the Midnight of Doomsday Clock

Redress Design Award Collection 2023

Jasmine’s Redress Design Award collection, ‘Over the Midnight of Doomsday Clock’, regenerates plastic and electronic waste into unique beadings and sequins to present the image of modern fossils. She also sources recyclable materials, including end-of-roll recycled nylon and natural fibres like cotton and wool, as well as bio-based sorona, which is made from corn. The pleated skirt and ruffle pattern are designed with zero waste, enriched by various flower shapes, ruffles, and volume from pattern overlapping. Jamine’s collection features a black and dark colour palette and different styling options for added versatility and longevity.
Stay true

Redress Design Award Collection 2021

Jasmine’s Redress Design Award 2021 collection ‘Stay true’ is inspired by the innocence of childhood. Reflecting on the pandemic and its impact on what we value, she looks to remind the wearer of their pre-adult dreams, and to believe in and love themselves. Jasmine reconstructs graduation gowns - representing great sentimental value - along with surplus production fabrics using zero-waste pattern cutting to feminine sculptural silhouettes designed to be mixed and matched for maximum use. To extend the lifespan of these meaningful garments, she creates three dimensional flower patterns, heart shapes and ruffles with zero-waste design techniques to enrich layering and enhance the volume of the clothing.
