Redress Design Award 2020 All Star & Hong Kong Best Winner 2018 Runner-up

Meet The Designer

“Sustainability has always been a core part of my design concept, and I was influenced by my upbringing, where we were encouraged to appreciate the potential of all objects for re-use. By designing fashion in a sustainable way, I find new possibilities for collected objects, creating an unexpected journey for both the object and wearer.”

Bio

Jesse Lee won the Redress Design Award 2018 Second Prize Mentorship with Orsola de Castro, as well as the Hong Kong Best Prize the same year and is currently developing his eponymous brand. Blending repurposed fabrics with modern 3D printing and innovative embellishment techniques, Jesse Lee’s designs bridge past and future, redefining how garments can tell a story.

In 2020, Jesse was awarded the Redress Design Award 2020 All Star accolade for his collaboration with The R Collective for the ‘Denim Reimagined’ collection – a limited-edition up-cycled denim collection supported by Levi’s®. Jesse’s work continues to receive international recognition, from being the winner of the Global Design Awards 2025 in the Sustainable Fashion Category and a finalist in the 2024 Circular Design Challenge, as well as the 2023 Hong Kong Young Fashion Designers Contest and the Hand & Lock Prize for Embroidery and 2022 International Talent Support Contest (ITS) Sportswear Award First Prize.

Jesse holds a degree in Fashion Design from Kingston University (UK) and a MA in Menswear from the University of Westminster (London, UK).

Redress Design Award Collection

Jesse’s submission for the Redress Design Award was inspired by his mother’s love of wearing his father’s old jackets as a way of showing her love and affection. Jesse up-cycled and reconstructed textiles found in his family home, including old curtains, sofa fabrics, umbrellas, bed sheets and socks, transforming objects with sentimental value and memories into a timeless collection that can be shared.
