THE KICK-OFF

In January 2020, applications for the Redress Design Award 2020 - the 10th cycle of the world’s largest sustainable fashion design competition - opened. To celebrate, Redress presented a special Retrospective Exhibition, showcasing the creations of each of the nine past winners. Held at The Mills in Tsuen Wan, the exhibition attracted 40,000+ visitors.

ENABLING EDUCATORS

Redress has now partnered with 140 universities, and reached 23 educators this cycle through in-person educator workshops. Redress’ punchy Sustainable Fashion Educator Pack, which assists educators globally to integrate sustainability into the curriculum, has been in review this cycle though in-depth consultations with users - a report on its impact due in the coming weeks.

SCOUTING FOR TALENT

For the 10th cycle of the Redress Design award, Redress received hundreds of applications from 49 regions across the world. Drawing from their diverse experiences, judges looked for qualities of creativity, sustainability and market viability before picking the 10 talented finalists. This year, the Redress Design Award introduced its first ever standalone menswear prize to the mix with two First Prizes up for grabs! Meet the womenswear and menswear finalists here.

THE PHOTOSHOOT

The finalists’ signature looks were revealed in a stunning earth elements-themed photoshoot, styled and shot by leading Hong Kong creatives Kieran Ho and Karl Lam and featured in this year’s Vogue Hong Kong’s September Sustainability issue. The clothes were delivered to the studio from the finalists’ home countries via Redress Design Award’s Logistics Sponsor UPS’ carbon neutral shipments.
