Bio

Jann Christian Bungcaras was a semi-finalist of the Redress Design Award 2020 and the People’s Choice winner. He studied Advanced and Basic Fashion Illustration and Design Studio One- Design Problem Solving at SoFA Design Institute, and Basic Menswear and Basic and Advanced Pattern-making at Fashion Institute of the Philippines – Cebu. He is now the founder of his own eponymous brand, JANN BUNGCARAS. His mission is to empower people to feel confident and comfortable in their own skin by celebrating individuality, self-expression, and inclusive, unisex designs that reject the gender binary. At the same time, he is committed to sustainability—reducing fashion’s environmental impact through recycled materials, ethical production practices, and a shift away from fast fashion toward thoughtful, high-quality craftsmanship.

Redress Design Award Collection

For his Redress Design Award collection, Adam’s Dominion, Jann is inspired by the responsibility God has bestowed upon people after creation and the mistakes we have made. Jann reflects on his own fashion journey by reconstructing his personal wardrobe mistakes into his collection, along with up-cycled cut-and-sew waste, damaged textiles and unsold clothing waste, creating versatile outfits that can be styled in interchangeable ways.
