Redress Design Award Collection
Inspired by the issue of home textile waste, Mandy’s Redress Design Award collection, ‘Start From Zero’, explores the potential of upcycling home textile waste with multifunctional outfits combining aesthetics and practicality. Incorporating zero waste patterns and upcycling techniques, Mandy’s designs present a vintage mood with raw edges, patchwork, and inside-out fabrics, keeping the original features of the waste textiles. She also designs with low-impact materials like eco-fur, natural fibres like cotton and wool, as well as polyester end-of-rolls, cut-and-sew waste, and unsold clothing from Sham Shui Po, Hong Kong’s fabric district.
