Bio

Building on his Redress Design Award 2022 collection, Hong Kong designer Patrick Lam founded SIGN, a sustainable and homegrown menswear label.

His designs draw deep inspirations from military aesthetics, and transform tradition into timeless elegance through the creation of oversized silhouettes. Patrick upcycles unused industrial garment samples and surplus fabrics from local sources such as the Sham Shui Po garment district for his made-to-order designs. SIGN seeks to interpret fashion as a symbolic merge between past and present, with a commitment to designing for longevity by forgoing trends.

Patrick was the Hong Kong Best winner of the Redress Design Award 2022.

Patrick’s Redress Design Award collection, ‘The Mods,’ combines different military jackets and suits, adding denim elements with splicing, and reshaping a new style through oversized tailoring. The collection is inspired by the British ‘Mod’ subculture of the 1960s and uses upcycling and reconstruction techniques to transform discarded samples made mainly from nylon with high durability. Forgoing trends, Patrick embraces timeless military silhouettes to showcase the values of quality and proportion.
